Family Health Medical School officially outdoored

The Premier Private Medical School, Family Health Medical School opposite Kofi Annan International Peace Keeping Center, Teshie, has organized its maiden information session to outdoor the school to the general public, especially potential students and their parents.

The purpose is to provide detailed information about the school to the visitors as to the unique and innovative facilities the school has to offer, including the Tim Johnson Library Complex which has a lot of innovations.

Among the Tim Johnson Library Complex innovations include; Telemedicine facilities where students can have virtual lectures from America, Europe, Britain, Germany or India.

Others are the E-library which is extended to the whole compound; Hall of anatomy; which uses both cadavers to introduce students to the human body which is prime to medical training and other electronic and computerised facilities to view different parts of the human body.

Parents and students were excited that the anatomy professors will be helping them dissect cadavers and not left alone. Other unique facilities visitors were exposed to include free Wi-Fi all over the campus for student toaccess, laundry services as well as a cafeteria close to their accommodation facility that serves a variety of meals.

The information session was important as it proved to potential students and their guardians that students of Family Health Medical School were not disadvantaged by attending a private medical school.

Parents were also excited about the safety measures taken by the school which include well-trained security personnel, hydrants and electronic pumps in the laboratories to be used in case of accidents.

Visitors also saw the on-site residential facilities with some students even choosing their rooms with their roommates and others opted to be single.

The serene and beautiful environment of the school was another feature that impressed visitors especially the greenness of the lawn due to continuous supply of water from the biogas plant, the many sitting areas for learning and relaxation and the availability of coconut trees which students, parents and lecturer can enjoy.

Visitors were also pleased with the summer huts and chalets where mentors and parents can relax with their wards while enjoying the cool breeze of the Atlantic Ocean.

Students were also introduced to the concept of swimming in the pool and learning close to the Atlantic Ocean with security around them.

Lecturers also interacted with students and re-echoed some innovative teaching methods including Didactic Lecturing, Team Based Learning (TBL) and Self-Directed Learning.

It was reassuring that the authorities are putting measures in place to help sponsor brilliant but needy students The academic year for the first batch of students starts on the 4th of January, 2016 with registration followed by orientation People who have not yet bought or Submitted forms or awaiting results have a grace period of six weeks from the date of reopening to apply.
