CEPS donates to Korle-Bu, 37 Military Hospitals

Accra, March 21, GNA - The Customs, Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS) on Wednesday donated 74 million cedis to two leading health institutions in Accra. The Ghana Heart Foundation, an affiliate of the Cardiothoracic Centre of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital received 50 million Cedis, while the 37 Military Hospital received 20 million cedis as well as a computer and accessories for its Nursing Training School.

CEPS makes yearly donations to the Ghana Heart Foundation. The money is raised from contributions made by individual officers of CEPS. Mr Emmanuel Doku, CEPS Commissioner said the donation formed part of the institution's social service and assistance to the needy in society. He said CEPS appreciated what the Cardiothoracic Centre was doing for the country despite the constraints.

The Commissioner pledged CEPS's continuous support to the Heart Foundation, saying, "we will make it our priority to support you". Prof. Kwabena Frimpong Boateng, Chief Executive Officer of the Korle- Bu Teaching Hospital expressed appreciation for the donation, adding that, it would go a long way to address some of the problems facing the Centre, especially in helping the needy. Group Captain Samuel Annankra, Acting Deputy Commander of the 37 Military Hospital who received the donation also thanked the CEPS administration and promised that it would be put to good use.
