Brong-Ahafo is ready for national sanitation day

The Brong-Ahafo Region has been equipped with sanitation tools and equipment for the successful hosting of the 10th monthly national sanitation exercise slated for Saturday, September 5.

Alhaji Collins Dauda, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) did the presentation to the Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC) for distribution to the 27 Municipal and District Assemblies for the effective execution and participation of the exercise in their respective areas.

The items included 10,000 waste bins, 200 long brooms, 150 wheel-barrows, 200 rakes, 50 cutlasses, 100 shovels and 1,000 gloves.

Alhaji Dauda said the essence of the exercise was to rid the nation of filth, and inculcate in the citizenry the habit of ensuring cleanliness in their homes and communities to ensure good environmental cleanliness and proper sanitation practices.

He thanked the various institutions and organizations for their support, particularly the Social Security and National Insurance Trust, for donating most of the items.

Mr. Eric Opoku, the Regional Minister, who received the items on behalf of the RCC at the residency, accordingly distributed them to the Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) who were present.

Mr Opoku urged them to involve the opinion leaders, especially the traditional authorities in their localities for the successful implementation of the programme.
