Hon. Afriyie Ankrah to grace maiden golf awards

The Minister of Youth & Sports, Hon.
Elvis Afriyie Ankrah has assured organisers of the maiden Golf Awards that he
will grace the event which is coming off on Sunday at the Events Haven located at
the Trade Fair Center.
He made the assurance when some executive
members of the Ghana Golf Association (GGA) and Primeval Consult paid a curtesy
call on him to formally invite him to the awards ceremony.
Hon. Afriyie Ankrah said as a minister
of all sporting disciplines, he has observed the activities of the golf association
for some time and has seen that they are one of the self sustaining sports
associations that has financed its own activities and now organizing an awards
ceremony to honour players and others who have contributed to the development
and promotion of the sport in Ghana.
He commended the executives of the Ghana
Golf Association (GGA) as well as Primeval Consult, the event organisers and
urged other sports associations to emulate what the golfers are doing.
Mr. Mike Aggrey, vice president of the
GGA said people have misconceptions about the game and he hopes this ceremony
would bring people around to know much about the game and also be a platform to
showcase what the game is about to generate more interest among Ghanaians.
The delegation from the GGA included President
Dr. Felix K. Frimpong and General Secretary Group Captain F. Gyimah Kwakye.
