Klah defends MTN title with 5-under 67 win

Achimotan Joseph Klah has successfully defended his MTN Classic win a year ago with a 5-under 67 to scale on to a defining win at the Tema Country Golf Club over the weekend.
The event drew together over eighty golfers. MTN sufficiently rewarded his great exploits with an eye-catching trophy, Blackberry as well as souvenirs in the Men A Group.
Klah sustained his streak with birdies at holes 3, 5 and 9 on the front nine coupled with string of pars. A struggle at hole 6 for bogey remained the lone bogey on the day.
En route to defending his previous MTN Classic Golf victory, Joseph, a single handicapper kept a good balance from tee to green. He approached the 18th hole with a magnificent long drive that landed by the edge, followed with a chip close to the hole and a tap-in putt for a birdie. The drive on hole 18 won him prize for the longest drive.
Samson Attiogbe shot a net score of 69 for second place with Peter K. Amenyo a shot behind for third place. Both received trophies, Huawei Ideo /Modem and souvenirs from MTN.
Jessica returned a net score of 76 for victory in the Ladies’ A Group. She received a trophy, Blackberry and souvenirs. Suzzy Abaloo Kumassah shot a net score of 78 for second place with Esther Amedzro on a net score of 79 for third place. Both received trophies, modem and souvenirs as prizes.
Remarkable results were manifest in the Men B Group; Ako Odotei emerged first with a net score of 66, followed by Richard Boateng on a net score of 67, while Tang Wei for third place on a net score of 70. Prizes including trophies, Blackberry, modems and souvenirs were presented to winners in these categories.
In other categories, Patrina Galley secured first place finish in the Ladies B Group on a net score of 79, whilst Club Ladies’ Captain Cherie Hammond finished second on a net score of 80.
Evergreen Mona Captan took prize for the longest drive. Frimpong Tenkorang and Suzzy Abaloo Kumassah were proud winners of the Closet to pin prize for Men and Ladies respectively.
Mike Ikpoki, MTN CEO was full of praise to golfers for the massive turnouts, especially to the winners and reiterated his organization’s continual support for golf in Ghana. He announced that, MTN would continue to sponsor the MTN Classic Golf for the next three years.
He further noted that, MTN is resolved to make life a lot richer for its customers and therefore entreated golfers to take absolute advantage of the numerous offers from MTN that, include the MTN Mobile money.
