Lipton commit to Tema bi-monthly golf for 2012

**

The Lipton brand of Unilever Ghana Limited are committing to a continued sponsorship of the bi-monthly medal competition of the Tema Country Golf Club for next year, ALL SPORTS can report. According to Francis Darko Afoani, Assistant Brand Manager, Foods of the Unilever sponsors, they are impressed with the relationship with the golf club so they will return again in 2012.

"We've come to the end of yet another year of sponsorship and partnership between Lipton and Tema Golf Club. It's been two years of this partnership and I think it has grown tremendously.

"We are committed to stay to this sponsorship largely because the brand identifies itself with the values of this game. We will be here again next year," Mr. Afoani said at the last bi-monthly medal tournament of 2011 last Saturday.

And the competition was as fierce as it's been all year long as Charles Martey emerged the biggest winner after returning net 66 to win the men group A competition and carry home a giant trophy and Lipton products as prize.

E.K. Owusu of Tafo came second on 68 net with P.K. Amenyo finishing 3rd via net 70. The men's group B winner was John Ayitia who returned net 70 to beat into second place J. Wartenberg who returned 72 net.

In the ladies' category, Grace Amoah was the winner after returning 73 net to beat Lady Scientific Florence Etwi-Barimah into the runner-up spot as both also received trophies.

In the end, Brig. Gen. (RTD) Joseph Odei, Captain of Tema, could only thank the participants and the Lipton sponsors for what he described as a succesful day of golf competition.

"We thank God for bringing us to the end of another year and we also thank all the golfers for your participation.

“We must be grateful to Unilever for sponsoring this competition. We hope they will continue to support us, we are very grateful to them," Mr. Odei said.
