A mammoth crowd who besieged the premises of Adom FM, a Tema-based radio station, to witness a show of spiritual prowess between Prophet Nicholas Osei alias Kumchacha and the renowned fetish priest, Nana Kwaku Bonsam were left disappointed as the former failed to turn up for the contest.
The expectant crowd who gathered at the forecourt of the Adom FM Wednesday afternoon in anticipation of a showdown waited in vein as the Akomadan-Afrancho-based fetish priest, Kwaku Bonsam was the only confident contender present at the radio station.
The failed spiritual banter comes on the back of an earlier challenge from Prophet Kumchacha, Founder and Leader of the Heaven's Gate Ministries, on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem to Kwaku Bonsam - after he[Bonsam] had claimed the credit for the early release of Prophet Nana Kofi Yirenkyi aka Jesus Onetouch from prison.
Prophet Kumchacha, a close pal of Jesus Onetouch, infuriated by Bonsam’s claims, said the self-acclaimed fetish priest has no spiritual powers but employ tricks to deceive gullible clients into believing that he was endowed with supernatural powers.
The man of God dared Kwaku Bonsom to face off with him in a spiritual battle to prove who possesses supernatural powers on Adom FM’s afternoon programme Ofie Kwanso.
At exactly 4:00 pm as the contest was scheduled to start, producers of the show confirmed the present of Kwaku Bonsam at the radio station. However, according the producers, Prophet Kumchacha informed them on phone that it was running cats and dogs in his area, explaining why he could not make it to the show.
This 'lame' excuse sent shivers down the spine of the expectant crowd gathered at the station as they questioned the true spirituality of Kumchacha who had earlier bluffed to humiliate Kwaku Bonsam.
The Ofie Kwanso crew were left with no option than to proceed with Kwaku Bonsom who was in a pair of jeans and a polo shirt - ably assisted by his deity Kofi Kofi to performed marvelous magic in the studio.
To prove his mysticism, Kwaku Bonsom inserted a pen in his mouth and recited some incantation, and he puffed out smoke out of his mouth; he also folded a newspaper which had gari in it and after about three minutes incantation, the newspaper began to burn - acts to prove critics wrong.
The Akomadan-Afrancho-based fetish priest explained that he took up the challenge to prove to the false prophets like Kumchacha that his gods have the power to perform signs and wonders.
The traditional priest said Kumchacha’s challenge is the six he has had from fake prophets who want cheap publicity in the media but fail to show up for the event because they lack the power.
I know Kofi Kofi and my other deities would consume Kumchacha with fire for making me waste my precious time here today, he bemoaned.
Kwaku Bonsom vowed to expose all the false prophets who have gone to other shrines for powers and yet make provocative statements against him instead of preaching the word of God.
The fetish priest was quick to add that his action was not to, in any way, challenge God but to expose false prophets who reap people off to enrich themselves.
Kwaku Bonsam who boosts of having pastors clientele who regularly visit his shrine to seek power to establish churches recently caused a stir when he stormed a church at Kato near Berekum in the Brong Ahafo region to demand a charm he gave to the pastor to establish a church due to failure of the supposed man of God to pay the remainder of the agreed fee for the charm.
However, host of Adom FM's Dwaso Nsem, Adakabre Frimpong Manso who facilitated the contest expressed disgust at the behaviour of Kumchacha who proposed the contest but failed to turn up.
He offered an unqualified apology to Kwaku Bonsam who had come all the way from Kumasi to Accra for the contest.
