Dear Hon. Nana William Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo,

You may wonder who the writer of this letter is. I am the gentleman who sometime ago sent you on an errand to deliver a special message to Mr. John Agyekum Kuffour when he was the legitimate president of our country. I do not want to remind you of where we met for the assignment; however, I believe you will recall the occasion.
I am writing to thank you for running the errand. I very much appreciate that because I really needed your assistance at the time. A friend in need is a friend indeed. According to media reports, you were recently in London for a medical checkup. I hope you are doing pretty well with madam, your children and the entire members of the extended family.
Nana, if you don’t mind I would like to advice you. I just wanted to say that it was about time you asked your legal experts to go back to the Supreme Court and withdrew the case you filed with the Court concerning the 2012 presidential election. I think it is important that you withdraw the petition before a verdict was delivered on the 29th of the month. My reasons are twofold:
First, before the election, the Ghana Peace Council, under the auspices of His Majesty Otumfo Osei-Tutu 11, invited all the presidential candidates and asked for their cooperation, under their signature, agreeing to renounce violence after the election. Further, the king asked for the cooperation of all the presidential candidates to accept and abide by the outcome of the election. The king’s concern was focused on public safety and national development.
At the end of the election, you violated the terms of the agreement that you voluntarily and willingly participated and signed at your own free will. Consequently, we lost two lives at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra. By violating the terms of the agreement, you have overlooked and disrespected tradition.
Second, based on my experience here in the United States as an election clerk and supervisor, there is no perfect election. Elections are always characterized by election and voting frauds that come about without the authority and or knowledge of presidential candidates. Irrespective, the losers have always accepted the results as is and have focused on their role as opposition leaders, providing constructive criticism to government. This helps to strengthen government’s day-to-day business practices. Since the last five years that you became our country’s main opposition leader, you have failed to place attention on your main role as opposition leader. Instead, you have worked tirelessly disputing elections’ results.
It is for the foregoing reasons that I very strongly advise that you quickly withdraw the petition before any verdict is given by the court. It appears that your political advisors are not doing a good job. Take the recent election cases of Zambia and Kenya as reference points and accept the content of this letter in good faith. Please after withdrawing the petition, go to Manhyia and apologize to the king for the mistake.
I hope that this advice is helpful. Please if you visit Manhyia, submit my customary and respectful greetings to His Majesty and request from him, on my behalf, to remember me in prayers any time he pours libation to our ancestors and the Almighty. I wish you long life and all the best of luck in your future political endeavors.
Please accept my respectful greetings and extend it to your family members and political team.
Yours very respectfully,
Mr. A. P. Gyimah
A natural Ghanaian

PS: It is not too late to withdraw the case. You can do that even on the morning of the Thursday, August 29, 2013.
