This is really serious since most of the nurses and midwife are from far away in the south,they have no relatives to get help from.In addition,most of the institutions they work in dont give them any money for their upkeep. Most of them are from poor homes and once they are deemed graduates from the health institutions ,their families stop giving them financial assistance thinking they are taking single spine. If you have a family member among them like me, you would have a felt the pain right in your left Venice of your heart. Nursing is good but this callus directors and some of our silent directors of nursing in some regions are putting many young ones who are very willing away from the profession. Surprisingly, most of these inhumane heads of institutions are near retirement and are supposed to be generous. They should bear in mind that the people you meet on your way up are those you Will meet on your way down. The evil men do.......

The Directorate reached an agreement with the service secretariat to recall nurses and re-post after they realized the idea of National Service was to heavily affect the nursing situation in the region. This was done and a few like Nuhu who think they are smart refused to obey.Lets us respect out authorities, those of us who accepted the decision have no problem and so Nuhu and his cohort must advise themselves. I'm surprised at the allegations this idiot is leveling at Dr Awoonor. That man simply seeks the development of this poor region and does not need your peanut allowance. Learn to be obedient and you won't have a problem

If its blocked fom the CAG dept. straight away, you are finished. So Dr. awoonor is even being considerateto miscreants like you. It is sad that someone will try to misinform the public in this manner. In this day and age, how can you try to deceive the public that the Regional Director is trying to siphon your allowances?It just shows the extreme ignorance of the writer of this shameful article. Please go and educate yourself about how government moneys are handled. The main problem in the Upper East is that people will do anything to get trained as Nurses and yet they want to abandon their own people and go and work where they like without at least serving them for a while. Ghana is a unitary state and we should all be able to work in any part of the country but given the gap between the south and the north which has to be bridged somehow, do you expect that Ga, Ashanti, Ewes and others should come and nurse your people and speak what language to them? Until most of the trainees in the region recognise that they need to serve their people because they speak the languages of their people and know their culture better, these problems will persist. You should rather be applauding Dr. Awoonor for working hard to improve the health of the people in the Upper East!
