Sophism is always pretending to be neutral. The problem in Ghana is the NPP being a party of Ashanti-Akyem plus their vassal tribes.
NDC is a national party.

Yaw Sophism or Philosophy, Ethnicity is not as you have defined as 'shared experiences' rather it is 'shared values'.
Values are not same as experiences as everyone has different experiences but same values.
I suggest humbly you go back and revise.

Please, there is no ethnic group call northerner. Again, the Prez is not a mole Dagbani. It will be very good if you do a little more research before delving into such articles. There re so many ethnic groups in the north but the people below the savanna belt ignorantly refer everybody from the north as one hence this conclusion. They do not undertsand each other language unlike the Akan. It is so painful that, you have greww from infancy to elitism and have not known these thing, therefore it will be very difficult for you to take the truth you have not heard of from your childhood.

This articles only shows how poor most of southerners know about their own country,Ghana.Just like most whites see Africa as a country, most southerners especially asantes see the north as one tribe. Can you imagine this; The Asante twi is just almost like Akyem twi, again they belong to the same mate meho party but all the same, the asante man will not like you to refer to him as akyem yet still, he wants say,the Gonja, the Dagomba,Grunshi,Konkomba, vagla etc to see themselves as belonging to the same tribe even though there's no resemblance whatsoever among the languages they speak. And this same asante or southerner will always be the first to accuse the whiteman of racism because he linked all Africans as one country.Double standard and ignorance at its best. The ignoramus and tribalists should know that up to date,John Mahama has only nominated one Gonja as a minister at the presidency. There is a tribe called Gonja which the prez belongs to and another called dagbani which Haruna Iddrisu for example belongs to.They don't resemble let alone be the same just like ewe and asante don't resemble apart from both being in the south.

very very very funny indeed,,,,,,ndc will not last irrespective of how much they hate akans bcos no party thrives on tribalism whilst BUSY STEALING AND LOOTING STATE COFFERS THRO FAKE J-DEBTS PAYMENTS WHILST THE MASSES SUFFER ESPECIALLY IN NDC STRONGHOLDS LIKE VOLTA REGION, UER, UWR, NR, AND CENTRAL REGION......very soon these voters will find out that the ndc is stabbing them in the back whilst lining their private pockets with the state wealth instead of using it to improve infrastructure in those poverty stricken areas of their strongholds......AND THAT IS THE TIME THE NDC WILL DIE LIKE A COCKROACH.....its a fact that the ndc thrives on antiakanism and this does not put bread on the table or put a cloth on voters back.....voters will soon wise up and the tribal politics will be a thing of the past AND IDEAS WILL BEGIN TO WIN ELECTIONS WHICH THE NDC LACKS SO MUCH WHEN IT COMES TO IDEAS......hahahahahahahaaa

A great article by the writer. I am a Northerner who was embarrased to see so many northern nominees for the new carbinet however, on a second thought I do agree with Mr. Mahama for his selection since the northerners have been left out for too long. Besides, I believe that his action is deliberate to help all of us reflect deeply on this question of tribalism, regionalism, nepotism, cabalism and cronyism in our body polity. Mr. Mahama is simply making a statemen that what is good for the goose is equally good for the gander. I believe he has given all of us some food for thought. He will surely be more balanced during his second term, since he has come to set the standard for the country - he is certainly the pace setter for the true Ghana, watch out! let's just be patient with him.

Whilst there are many problems confronting many ghanaians I believe tribalism is at the root of it all. Generally speaking, the larger tribes feel superior whilst the minority tribes' feelings of insecurity make them to calesce and cling together. They only feel secure among their own kind because the reality in Ghana is job acquisition and security may depend on tribal background or political party affiliation rather than on your qualifications and competence. Since we are all created equal with the same unalienable rights to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness the legislative branch of government need to enact anti-discrimination laws that will protect all minorities and not just tribal minorities.
I'm sure most ghanaians will readily endorse a constitution that guarantees equal rights, equal opportunities, and equal justice to all ghanaians regardless of tribe, sexual orientation, gender, religion, etc.
Again we'll do well as a nation if we'll recognize hardwork, achievement and success instead of the prevailing tradition of putting square pegs in round holes because the job applicant's "uncle" belongs to the "do you know who I am" influence peddlers and wire-pullers.
