Mr. Rawlings in a message to mark the 32nd anniversary of the revolution he led resolved to "continue to confront the rot that is eroding the values many laid down their lives for. Some of us cannot and will never depart from the principles that led to the revolution and sustained it for so long. We shall continue to confront the rot that is eroding the values many laid down their lives for. The struggle continues’” (Ghanaweb, December 31, 2013).

“A member of the communication team of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Alhaji Naziru Mohammed claims Rawlings’ regime was without any form of sleaze since the revolt he led in 1981 resulted in freeing up opportunities that led to the socio-economic and socio-political advancement of the country” (Ghanaweb January 2, 2014).
