Has the NPP’s Disciplinary Committee tamed Kennedy Agyapong?

Folks, there is no dispute about the fact that the NPP has many gasbags in it whose utterances have caused much harm to its interests than can be contained or repaired. A quick rundown:

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, the MP for Assin Central, is known for his empty bravado and utterances verging on insanity, especially his threat to physically beat ex-President Rawlings and his instigation of Asantes to kill Ewes and Gas. He generated a lot of animosity for the NPP, which no one needs dismiss as one of the factors that crippled Akufo-Addo as Election 2012.

He is known for bragging about his wealth and damning politicians who have ever been supported by him (I remember his taunting of the NDC's Mrs. Ama Benyiwa-Doe that he would take her on if she didn't make good the loan that she had taken from him)!

Not satisfied with “fighting” outsiders, he went full throttle, turning his verbal missiles against those in the NPP he perceives as undesirables. His damaging allegations against the current national officers of the NPP landed him in trouble as the party’s Disciplinary Committee took notice of them and summonsed him to account for his waywardness.

Before even the date could be fixed for the encounter with the Sanhedrin, Agyapong brazenly repudiated the summons and threatened action against anybody seeking to discipline him. He based everything on how much he had spent on the party and dared the national leaders to make available one million Dollars so he could defray the cost of the motor-bikes that he had bought on credit from a Chinese contact for the party’s electioneering campaigns.

Short of that, he vowed never to appear before the Sanhedrin, topping it up with his intention to break away from the NPP and form his own party, especially if the current national officers are retained at the upcoming national delegates’ conference.

Before his boasts, vows, and threats, could sink, though, the Sanhedrin tightened its noose around his neck, dragging him before it to be interrogated. He ate back his own vomit and submitted to the authority of the Sanhedrin.

Since then, he has withdrawn into his shell and gone the way Dr. Konadu Apraku and Kwame Pianim have gone—keeping their mouths shut, probably to avoid the ominous!!

Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobby has already faced the Sanhedrin and been ostracized, the villain that he is to the party’s leaders for daring to tread where no one expected him to go. We will deal with Wereko-Brobby in a separate post!

Others like Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe are being eyed for drastic action but they are not perturbed at all in their criticisms. Now, Dan Botwe is even urging that Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe can leave the NPP!

But back to Kennedy Agyapong. Surprisingly, he has learnt to shut his mouth. Not even the pronouncement by Maxwell Kofi Jumah that he was working with him to form a people’s Liberation Party in protest at goings-on in the NPP would pique him to make any noise.

Evidently, he has lost his mojo after his encounter with the Sanhedrin. Oh la la! Has Kennedy Agyapong finally been tamed?
I shall return…
