Are Some Ghanaians Still Dumb

about How Presidents are Elected in Ghana?

? ?Sorry, I find it difficult to continue to cope with the stark stupidity of some Ghanaians regarding their expressed views on how to win Presidential elections in Ghana. As thick as they are, or intentionally choosing to feign ignorance ? ?,they continually argue as though they are not humans but wild beasts just emerged from the jungle to cause mayhem. Even the Whiteman’s pets (dogs or cats)?may comport themselves better or understand things?much better than this category of Ghanaians?under discussion. From their views as expressed orally on air ? ? ?,in conversations or written, they are completely?ignorant of the basic rule pertaining to winning presidential elections in Ghana. Consequently, they make themselves look typical fools when sharing views on the ongoing Election 2012 petition lodged in the Supreme Court against the Electoral Commission and President John Dramani Mahama. These Ghanaians are of the unflinching view that Nana Akufo Addo can never be declared the President of Ghana. They claim Nana winning in only two regions (Ashanti and Eastern) out of ten can never under the Sun, the Moon and the Stars become the President of Ghana. They maintain John Mahama having won in eight regions is the automatic Godsend President. I do not get the logic in this argument put up by this group of Ghanaians I find intellectually deficient and commonsensically vague on Constitutional requirements of whoever is to be declared a winner during presidential elections.? ? ?I am not going to quote the Constitution but simply tell these seeming simpletons that a presidential candidate needs to win 50%+ of valid votes casts at elections to become the President-elect and subsequently, the President of the Republic of Ghana.?By the Constitution and under the current democratic dispensation of governance, a candidate simply has to win?a 50% + 1 vote majority of the popular votes cast to be declared the winner. ?This goes to tell if one can garner the requisite number of winning votes in say, one region, two or three, that person becomes the President regardless. I therefore find it very mischievous when people come out to say, Nana Addo cannot be declared the President of Ghana on the votes coming from only two regions. I can hardly contain my anger but to spew venom on such persons I find them complete idiots without a shred of knowledge of how presidential elections are won in Ghana.? ? ?They appear to require the elections in Ghana to operate same as probably operates in the USA where each State has been?allocated Electoral College votes depending on its size and more importantly, on their population. I had published my views on this same subject when it was first mooted and absurdly given undue credence by NDC sycophant Kwesi Pratt. For your "home work" please refer to my publication on Ghanaweb?under Feature Articles of Friday, 4 January 2013 entitled, "Understanding the Relevance of winning the Presidency". ? ? ?In the referred publication, I had explained in detail, citing how America goes about her own in which case, one can still win the Presidency in America with as fewer votes from fifteen States out of the fifty. In the said publication, I have illustrated how. Would these idiots still not argue that fifteen States are not enough to win the American presidential elections since there are fifty States and fifteen fall well short of even 1/3 of the States??Anyway, Nana Akufo Addo might have won more than two regions if the elections had not been rigged in favour of then Presidential-candidate John Dramani Mahama. This is not even the case. The fact is Ghana does not operate on how many regions you win but on how many valid popular votes one gets if it is more than 50%+ of the valid votes cast.? ? ?Nana Akufo Addo won the election squarely and clean but Dr Afari Gyan and his outfit rigged it in favour of John Mahama. The Supreme Court will confirm my assertion. Have you forgotten Kofi Basoah's dream which to me is the absolute truth when I take into consideration the proofs presented to the Court by the petitioners with the additional evidences gathered at the cross-examinations of the witnesses?? ? ?I do not take any delight in taking fellow Ghanaians to the cleaners but?many a time I cannot help it. It becomes the only perfect thing to do to pump sense into their thick brains.?At times taking them to the cleaners becomes the only option available.? ? ?I hope nobody will come out again to spew that rubbish in public anymore. Let them keep their ignorance to themselves but not to display it in public as it stinks. They must get education on how presidential elections are won in Ghana based on the 1992 Constitution to stop furthering their baseless or irresponsible arguments as stated above.? ? ?I dedicate this?publication to Kofi Basoah and all the followers of Nana Akufo Addo, "Ogyefo ye Na" as says, Kofi Tottenham.? ? ?Rockson Adofo ? ?
