We Drink Because We're Jobless

Acohol drinking which happens to form part of the aged in the past has now fallen to the youth. The rate at which the youth take into drinking of alcoholic beverages is so critical that if not checked could mar the country's bright future. This is because the youth of today who happen to be the future leaders have taken to drinking, and seriously speaking, how can drunkards govern a country like Ghana that has taken a button in developmental race.

The Ghanaian Voice yesterday stormed Nii Boi Town, a suburb of Accra to interact with some youth on this topic under discussion. Kojo Agbeli who was seen taking in the local drink, popularly called “akpeteshie” told our news team that he has been drinking because he has no job to do, and this he claimed has become a source of worry to him.

According to him he has to drink about four to six tots of the local drink every morning and evening in order to forget about some of his problems. Apparently, a number of the youth our news team interviewed shared almost similar views.

In other parts of the Nii Boi Town area visited, six young girls between the ages of 12 and 16 were seen smoking seriously at a bar close to a lorry station. Not knowing the sort of people we were, they decided that we have sex with them so we give them some cash to enable them buy food to eat. This is not the first time one is hearing issues like this. The time has come to get a solution before the situation gets out of hand.
