Video Director Unenthused with 4Syte Music Video Organisers

Music video director, Stanley Adjetey has opined that organisers of the 4syte Music Video Awards disrespected video directors by smuggling in music videos even after experts who constituted the selection panel concluded their work.

He cited Edem’s “The One” music video as one of those which should not have merited entry due to its release date.

“Directors come, sit and review which video qualifies to be nominated. It was agreed that they be selected based on merit and that included time of their release. Edem’s video ‘The One’ is a good video but was not part of the list we presented.

When we presented the list, the video had not been released. You can check on YouTube to see when the video was released. That video was never part of the list we came up with”, he told Abrantepa, host of Brunch2Lunch on Radio Univers 105.7 in Accra.

He emphasized that his comments are not as a result of losing to Edem; rather he believes the right thing ought to be done. Hinting that, he even raised the concern to the organisers when he saw the video on the nomination list, however the organisers felt it was their event and not his.

He expressed his misgivings about how tickets were given to members of the selecting panel and artistes who were nominated saying, “I was given only one ticket which was even a regular ticket.

I remember before we started the selection process, they asked what could be done to better the event. All the suggestions we made were never adhered to. The same mistakes at previous editions were repeated. My artiste (Knii Lantey) never got a call that he has been nominated so he should come for his ticket” he bemoaned.

The director of Knii Lantey’s ‘Baby Take Good Care’ music video suggested that consultants be brought on board to make the event incident free.

Publicist for the organisers, Mercury Quaye, reacting to the issues apologized to Mr. Adjetey for getting a regular ticket saying it must have been an error. On Edem’s video, he noted that there was no iota of truth in what Stanley said.

Meanwhile, Prince Dovlo, another video director who was part of the selecting panel has confirmed that Edem’s video was never part of the list the panel presented.
