Photos: Celebrities, Health workers lead the pack to launch ONE Ghana united against Ebola campaign

Saturday, 18th of October, 2014, will go down well in the history of Ghana- as a day Ghana celebrities, health workers and ordinary Ghanaians troop out in their numbers to launch the long awaited ONE Ghana united against Ebola campaign.
The campaign launch which started with a poster pasting, flyers distribution across the capital city of Accra, was ended at Rawlings Park, Accra, where hundreds of audience settled down for the launch proper.
According to the press release made available, the purpose of the ONE Ghana united against Ebola campaign was to educate Ghanaians about Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) and to raise GHc 1,000,000.00 to fund the educational campaign.
Speaking to the press, Mr. Joe Jackson, Director of Business Operations of Dalex Finance and Leasing Limited; the headline sponsor of the event said: “The Ebola Virus Disease is very deadly and has no certified cure or vaccine. The potential effect of the EVD outbreak on the already weak Ghanaian economy could be severe”.
In a conversation with the international model, Victoria Michaels, one of the celebrities that came to endorse the campaign - said “It high time celebrities start putting their weight in campaign that will benefit the health, economy and life style of Ghana and Ghanaians. Our joy shouldn’t always be in seeing our faces on television or newspapers, but we should- as well- stand in the gap for right cause like One Ghana against Ebola campaign” she said.
Other celebrities spotted at the event were Stacy Amoateng, Toosweet Annan, and Vincent McCauley Jnr among others.
Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection – Nana Oye Lithur, representative from UNICEF Ghana, and Dalex as well as Miss Malaika delegates were also present.
In her address, Nana Oye Lithur reiterated the need for more of such initiative: “I believe in this initiative -since it was in a bid to fight the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD), as well as to empower Ghanaians against the deadly disease through educational campaign like this”.
