‘Vera Broke My Heart’- D-Black

Desmond Kwesi Blackmore, popularly known to his fans across the world as D-Black, has revealed exclusively to NEWS ONE that his ‘Vera’ hit songs was inspired by a real life experience.

“‘Vera’ is a true story about a girl who broke my heart. I might have exaggerated a bit in the song to make it more exciting but it’s a true story that I put on beat,” Black noted.

The ‘Change Your Life’ hit maker said even though the song brought back a lot of memories, he didn’t expect it to hit like it had. The ‘Vera’ music video, which has attracted over 146,339 hits on video-sharing website YouTube, featured a giant lady with gargantuan buttocks whose body shape could not be avoided by any viewer.

As to whether the girl who broke Black’s heart has the same body vitals as the girl in the music video still remains a mystery. “I didn't expect the ‘Vera’ song to be that big of a hit though I promoted it hard.

But since its release on the first day, the response has been really massive. It has truly opened a lot of doors for me,” D-Black explained.

Since his nomination at the BET Awards in 2011, D-Black’s fan base has grown internationally. He has been performing and making appearances on events across the world.

“I have performed on a lot of platforms and made various appearances in Africa and the response has been nothing short of spectacular.” D-Black’s ‘Vera’ song has crossed a lot of borders on the African continent and is a hit everywhere.

In 2012, his ‘Falling’ video, which featured Nigerian rapper MoChedda, won him the Most Gifted African West Music Video award during the Channel O Music awards.
