Video: R2Bees’ ‘Life’ topped 2012 as the best song, do you agree?

In 2012, these hit songs came down on us making the year to be remembered. Ghanaian artist pushed their God given talents to make possibility out of the impossible. Music producers on the other side of music made their creativity felt on each track they produced.

Every artist wanted to leave a mark for this year, to be able to survive in the music market. Upcoming artists also tried their hands in the market but just a few were able to fish out something new making them recognized in the industry.

Compiling this list was a bit challenging since many acts succeeded in the industry last year. But all the same, we tried bringing to you the top ten tracks in 2012. Enjoy

10. Cwesi Oteng - God Dey Bless Me

The song was released in mid 2012 and it was Cwesi Oteng’s second hit single after 'Mercy'. With his natural voice, the single was powerfully hooked with a smashing chorus. Cwesi Oteng and his management after this classic tune shot a well conceptual video which gained him a nomination at the African Gospel Music Video Awards which he managed to win the video of the year. Cwesi Oteng stormed his own concert and other events with this tune, which makes him a part of our top ten.

9. Asem Ft. Kwabena Kwabena - Bye Bye

It was indeed a solid ground for Asem and his WBDN Records after making his presence felt with controversial tracks, Asem finally did it again with Kwabena Kwabena on the song 'Bye Bye' which caught the attention of lovers. The track has been on various weekly charts and should sit on the number 9 spot.

8. BukBak - Kolom

It was one of the greatest hit songs of the year after the group reunited. What do you expect when two different talented artist wield forces together? Their return in the industry was felt by music lovers since it was quite some time we heard from them. The song toped various weekly charts and it should be given the 8th position in our top ten.

7. Keche - Aluguitugui

If you wanted a track to dance with in the year 2012 then this was the track to boogie with. This was the song which was played at various events and parties. The beat in this song even got the legendary Actor Super O.D on his feet in that delightful video with Ghana's finest comedian Funny Face. It was on weekly charts in various media houses and should be number 7 on the list.

6.Guru - Lapaz Toyota

This hit single made Artist Guru to stand more firm on his feet and so proud in the industry. Lapaz Toyota song produced by Ball J was heard on various platforms, events and parties. This song was a high tempo tune which got the youth and the aged on their feet. This is a song to dance to from start to finish and no wonder it’s number 6 on our list of top ten songs.

5. Kaakie - Toffee Pon Tongue

Barely a year in the music industry, Kaakie has made her presence felt in the game. This hit single 'Toffee Pon Tongue' took people of Ghana by surprise. The Queen Diva made the genre of dancehall music felt in the year 2012. Kaakie performed on various platforms and this is a song her fans will remember her for. It wouldn’t be a surprise if she is crown as the Best New Artiste come 2013 Ghana Music Awards.

4. E.L - Obuu Mu

The song lyrics were on point and the beats swept everyone away. Obuu Mu made waves for months on various media houses. E.L and his management came up with a nice video to complete the song. The video landed E.L a Channel O nomination which unfortunately he didn’t win. I will not be surprised if he is nominated among the best new act in this year’s Ghana Music Awards.

3. D-Black - Vera

With no doubt this year was a year of Azonto which made most Musicians to bring out the versatility in them. Desmond Blackmore proved his ability to be versatile by bringing hit single Vera. It also featured a brilliant and comic verse from Upcoming rapper Joey B. It is a song to dance to in the year 2012 and it sits on our undoubted number 3 spot.

2. Sarkodie - Azonto Fiesta

The title of this song even got Ghanaians go gaga anytime its fiesta. Sarkodie murdered this tune as he always does and it raged on various media house for months. Ace Music producer, Appietus was featured on this tune with his own language which made the tune sound more appealing to the ear. This gives it the unbeatable 2nd position.

1. R2bees - Life

It was a success as the group made their creativity felt in the past year. The group after a successful highlife single ‘Odo’ came out with ‘Life’ which made wave on the air waves in various media houses. The man behind their music production Killbeats made his presence felt once more as they came up with ‘Life’ and it’s an undeniable fact that this tune deserves the first place on our top ten for last year.
