Akwadaa-Tin speaks on Big Papa compilation

Many Ghanaians have thought of compilation, when and how it started and the relationship between personalities involved, among other things. Way back in the 90’s, Richie Osei Kuffuor of Black M Sounds and CEO of ROK Fm in Takoradi produced “Black M Remix”, which comprised selected songs from Daddy Lumba, A B Crentsil, the late Obibini Takyi, Theo Yaw Boakye and the likes.

Slip Music also in 1999, presented Slip Compilation with artistes like Daasebre Gyamena, Lord Kenya, Joe Frazier, Adane Best, Felix Bell and Gyamson. That not withstanding, the Execution Entertainment led by Ghana Rap Sofo-Obrafo, picked rhythm partners such as Tinny, Paa Dogo, Okyeame Quami, Kwaw Kesse, 4X4, the Suicide Bomber, Bandana, Yoggi Doggi and Okra to release Execution Diary Page 1 in 2004.

The success of this compelled the engineer JQ of Q-Lex Entertainment to come out with his own combining artistes like Triple M, Bright of BukBuk fame, Pope Skinny, Castro, Taliban and a host of others. Hammer of the “Last Two” also had his compilation with the hit track “You may kiss the bride”, sang by Boli and Fada Wisie.

Then came The Appietus Compilation which also featured guys like Praye, Ebo, Ofori Amponsah and others. The last I could remember is Quick Action’s Compilation with songs by S24, Berbon Fly, Stone Boy, Kwaw Kesse and other talented young artistes. The biggest question is who benefits from all these numerous compilations? That not answered yet, the news now is on the Big Papa compilation, which is fresh on the airwaves and its beginning to make some noise.

It carries an easy to sing along track “Akwadaa Tin”, making it loud in few weeks of promotion in the city of Accra. He was born Isaac Winner Noi popularly known as Big Papa from Brekuso- Akwapim in the Eastern Region. He is the proud engineer behind many popular songs including the new hit album of Antwi Antwi “Ewiem”, Ofori Amponsah and the likes.

The engineer holds a Diploma in Music acquired from a Nigeria Institution and also a gospel artiste with three albums to his credit.

His major focus now is not to sing but help unearth new talents in the industry along his biggest profession as a song engineer. He disclosed that to him, compilation is the collection of music from different artistes both known and unknown on a single album.

In answering the biggest question on compilation in this story, Big Papa declared that artistes both fresh and old on this compilation have had paper agreement to strike a deal in order to get fair share of the output of job done.

Twelve solid tracks are loaded on the album, introducing and featuring artiste like Barosky, K’Boadi, Filter, PG, Gesto, Dombreni, Chows, Jake and the Fat Boy, Mununkum, Kyenkyenhene and many more.
