Accra To Rock To Non - Stop Music

Come Saturday, September 3, Accra will rock to the music of some of Africa’s greats including Salif Keita of Mali, Mahotela Queens from South Africa, Seun Anikulapo Kuti and Eric Wainaina, East Africa’s top star.

From Ghana will be highlife and hiplife greats in the persons of C.K. Mann, Mac Tontoh, and Reggie Rockstone who will all thrill Ghanaians to eight hours of non-stop music.

But the additional thrill will come from the young hiplife sensations including Obour, Dezmon 2Tu, Slim Busterr and many whose presence on the huge stage will satiate their large following who are sure to descend on the Independence Square to sing and dance along to their hearts content.

But it would not be only hiplife and highlife, gospel music will be fully represented by heavyweights such as Christiana Love and Kwaku Gyasi.

The concert by the Global Call to Action Against Poverty (GCAP) is organised in partnership with the Ghana Trades Union Congress and is designed to cover music, dance, poetry, food and general fun.

Called the Africa Standing Tall Against Poverty (STAP), the concert comes up one week before the UN Millennium Summit in New York and it is expected to project with one powerful voice-Africa’s call for the eradication of poverty.

According to the concert managers the GCAP’s campaign is one of the activities that are focused around three diplomatic vents at which” key decisions will be taken which will affect everyone in the world.”

These three events they explained are the G8 meeting that came off in Gleneagles last July, the UN Millennium Development Goals meeting in New York and the WTO meeting in Hong Kong in December.

The concert will surely be a bomb and it is expected that patrons who will throng the Independence Square will not be disappointed but have something to talk about years after it happened.
