Often, we head to Nollywood and Hollywood for the juicy celebrity headlines but not so in 2015; there was plenty of drama right here in our own Ghana.

In the year 2015, entertainers and fans woke up to some shocking and exciting entertainment news. Some of these stories were indeed sad while others, on the other hand, were very entertaining and became topics for discussions throughout that week.

Kwaw Kese will not forget his December 2014 transformation encounter with the Police as he was grounded behind bars for smoking marijuana in public. A December most fans described as empty without the man insane.

In April, a Y FM presenter named Adaeze Onyinyechie Ayoka aka Princess Ada made the headlines after news of her alleged abduction and rape broke on Monday, April 13, 2015.

Then in May, for the first time in the history of the Entertainment Industry, Yvonne Nelson took it upon herself, together with other celebrities, to add their voices to the masses in protest against the energy crisis in her country. She led a peaceful vigil on May 16, 2015, called DumsorMustStop. A movement that has caused her friendship with John Dumelo and other entertainers; also earning the name ‘The Yaa Asantewaa’ of 2015.

In July, Pastor Ofori Amponsah, who quit secular music for some years to pursue full-time ministry, preaching the word of God, returned to release a love song for his fans. A move that led to several backlash from some entertainers and his fans.

Then in August, the iconic Apollo Theatre in New York on August 8, 2015, came alive with a sold out concert featuring Sarkodie and some of Ghana and Africa’s biggest stars, appropriately tagged SarkodieHistoryInTheMaking. Kwaw Kese, Bisa Kdei, EL, Banky W and more, thrilled patrons of the 1500 capacity hall to the best of Afrobeats. A successful event that sparked controversy with Quophi Okyeame making claims that the Akyeame (Okyeame Kwame and Quophi Okyeame) were the first in history to perform at the Apollo Theatre.

On October 31, the music fraternity heard the most shocking news ever, the breakup of Shatta Wale and Bull Haus Entertainment. The split led to several allegations levelled against Bulldog. The revelations by Shatta Wale revived the case of the murder of Fennec Okyere, Kwaw Kese’s former manager. The latest update was the story of leaked nude photos of Bulldog’s wife by Shatta Wale.

In December, how can we forget, the ‘Ekiki Me’ hitmaker dolling out his manhood as a Christmas gift on stage to a live audience at the Citi FM Decemba2Rememba concert that took place at the Accra International Conference Centre. Currently facing charges at the court, Wisa Gried has pleaded not guilty.

Rocky Dawuni started December with good news, with his Grammy Awards 2016 nomination. Rocky made it in the ‘Reggae Album of the Year’ category with the acclaimed album, ‘Branches of The Same Tree’ under Cumbancha Label.

Lastly in December, Reggie N Bollie made the country proud when they came second in the X Factor UK musical talent show.
