Wyclef, Mario, Eve & 2 Face to rock Accra

International Grammy Award winning stars, Wyclef, Mario and Eve will rock Accra on November 22 in a musical extravaganza to introduce to Ghanaians the “Zain 026″ code from Zain Ghana, a major African telecom service provider about take-off. The event dubbed “The Zain 026 Experience,” will also feature renowned music icons such 2Face Idibia of Nigeria and three other local top artists, Obrafuor, Kwaw Kese, and Tinny.


The stars would perform live at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra to over 30,000 expected audiences where the “Zain 026 Experience” which over 22 countries in world and 56 million customers have so far experienced, would be outdoored in Ghana.


At a press launch of the event in Accra on Thursday, Wyclef Jean, who is also a songwriter, producer and an actor, told journalists on phone that it was a delight to stage a show in Ghana and promised to explore the possibility of having collaboration with a Ghanaian artist. Since 1987, Jean had been in active service as hip hop, reggae, kompa, R&B and folk musician and known to play with dexterity instruments such as guitar, piano and drum.


Eve, also a Grammy award winning rapper, singer, a musician with has to her credit hits such as “Tambourine”, Let me blow your Mind” and Who’s that Girl” is noted to have sold over seven million copies world wide. Again, Zain Ghana is bringing Mario, another multi-talented R&B artist from US with hit songs such as “Just a Friend” and Let me Love You”.


Mr Lemmy Adebule of the TransAfrica Media, the event organisers, described the upcoming show as “a grand breaking event” that would leave longer lasting impressions in the minds of Ghanaian music lovers and fans.

He said the event would introduce to Ghanaians the real Zain experience, which is to create a new sense of telecom service world to local customers. Mr Charles Mayerm, the marketing Director of Zain Ghana said the company “is hitting the country in a big way through the assembling of one of the best international network technologies to give Ghanaians the best.”


“Zain believes in people, people communicating. It’s not about the phones but the people and that is our commitment,” he added. The company according to Ms Ursula Owusu, the Corporate Affairs Director, would promote collaboration between international and local artists in order to project higher, Ghanaian and African music.
