The 020 Live Concert after Saturday Night

After Saturday night at the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre, the long expected 020 Live Concert which featured Ludacris, Sarkodie, Naeto C, 4x4 and Black N Peach, all on one platform to ease the stress out of the beautiful audiences who came expecting nothing but a brilliant night.

Earlier that day at the press soiree held at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra, the US rap star, Christopher Brian Bridges aka Ludacris told the world what he was taking out of Ghana and that is the energy, love and culture of the people. He didn’t relent in opening up, that the night would be one of the best to be ever witnessed in Ghana. A promise sure kept as he and the other performers did thrill the audience all night long.

Black N Peach will mature, Naeto C wasn’t 10 over 10

Sincerely, as soon as the microphone was given to the first performers, the winners of this year’s icons-Black N Peach, then the stage was set for fun, the audience practically forgot where their seats were because they were up all through as the next act from Nigeria, the 10 over 10 crooner – Naeto C continued with strings of songs. Though he wasn’t impressive enough, he still managed to get the cheers from the crowd. Like it or leave it, if you know what stuff Naeto C is made off, then you will agree with me that he was 4 and the half over 10.

4x4 stole the show

Yes, the ‘hey’, ‘hey’, ‘hey’, was on Ludacris, but the best performance came from 4x4, ‘gbagaaam!’ If my crystal ball is in good shape, then this group may earn another accolade for Best Group of the year. They were off the hook, full of energy and soaring flare. Did anyone hear Fresh Prince sing? That dude is something else, Coded and Captain Planet showed that they could go live band. Maturity has certainly set in, which is a plus to themselves and Ghana.

Ludacris’ DJ must be case study for our industry

It was time for the headliner, Ludacris to swag us with great lines. His performance wasn’t shocking to me because the brother is and has always been on point, delivering to the fullest expectation. And whoever said his backup rapper and DJ weren’t marvelous, then that person needs to go and ‘hug the transformer’. Especially with Luda’s DJ, I feel he should be used as a case study for the DJs here in Ghana.

Sarkodie flexed muscles

Again and again, no one should get pissed with that young man called ‘Obidiponbidi’ because he was off the hook. If not for 4x4 stealing the night, it would have been Sarkodie’s. His art with Ludacris was one of the wisest ideas I think the organizers embedded into the night. In one simple word, ‘fantastic’.

About the Press, MC and Organization

Though I had issues with where the Press were asked to sit, a cool arena though not the VIP section, but the fact that our view were blocked by the happy fans, it shows the magnitude of the exhilaration these guys and ladies came with, yet it was one of the down sides on the part of the organizers. But will you blame them that much for the fans’ act? I am sure that when they sit back and do their postmortem, they will smart up and patch all their loopholes in that aspect. The MCs (Yfm’s Caroline Sampson and veteran MC Eddie Blay) for the night didn’t impress. The word ‘composure’, is very important on platforms like that night’s.

Great performances from the acts and responsive audience summed the bliss. Though there were empty conspicuous chairs, but that didn’t ruin the cozy ambience of the night.

For the third time rolling, I can only say that the brand-020 Live Concert, has come to stay but perhaps will wax stronger with a certain level of consciousness in mind, that organizers must expand their scope in all ramification.

See how 4x4 rocked and tell me if my judgment of them stealing the night is or was wrong, enjoy:
