Sika Kokoo, Batman, sing the AIDS song

THE AIDS menace has become increasingly scary and statistics indicate that it will assume alarming proportions in the coming years.

It is therefore laudable when individuals take it upon themselves to join the fight against the spread of the disease.

One such individual is Charles Baffour a.k.a. Sika Kokoo, an unknown hiplife artiste who has released a single track titled Aids Is Real, to contribute his quota to the awareness campaign among the people especially the youth about the dangers of AIDS.

Sika Kokoo says he was inspired to take that action due to the experiences he had when he was working in South Africa. According to him the disease is very common in that country and he lived with about six people, four of whom had AIDS.

Through his interaction with them he realised that they had regrets about the way they had lived their lives and wished things had been different. He also realised that the treatment the AIDS patients had was very different from the way they were treated in Ghana. He therefore felt obliged to do something when he came back home, hence the song.

The song AIDS Is Real is a simple song which is geared towards advising the youth to live responsible lives. Incidentally the song has been commissioned by the Ghana AIDS Commission to be used in their anti-AIDS campaign.

Sika Kokoo who attended Medo Preparatory School and Kinbu Secondary School was a dancer with the Omari and the Miracle Dancers who performed Contemporary dances, mostly freestyle and choreographed pieces.

The song features Batman who does the Raggae and Little Daddy who assists with the backing vocals. He is especially grateful to Nana King of Ashanti International Studios where the song was mastered, for his immense support.
