Musician Mzbel is questioning the number of innocent lives lost through mob action following the murder of Captain Maxwell A. Mahama.

Captain Mahama was lynched by irate youth of Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central Region on suspicion that he was an armed robber, after a group of residents from whom he asked for directions during a Monday dawn jogging session spotted a pistol on him.

The death of the soldier has been widely condemned by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, former Presidents John Mahama and J.J Rawlings, civil society organisations, and the general public.

Mzbel, in a short tribute posted on Facebook to the deceased soldier, said: “My heart bleeds for Ghana and the family of this young officer Maxwell Adam Mahama.

What a waste of human life. Imagine the benefit Ghana would have made from the investment made in his military career. What becomes of these young children and his beautiful wife? Such a promising family! How many innocent people haven't been killed by this barbaric practice?”

Meanwhile, five out of over 120 people rounded up in connection with the instant justice meted out to the soldier have been detained to assist the police with investigations.
