Multi media retired me prematurely - Dr Prekese

Former drive time host of Adom 106.3FM, Kwame Dwumor Mensah aka Dr. Prekese has told Flex newspaper that the biggest mistake he made in life was to accept to work at Adom FM without talking monetary terms with them.

The versatile presenter who now works with Bryt FM in Koforidua disclosed that the Multimedia Group Limited, owners of Adom FM, Joy FM, Nhyira FM, Luv FM, Multi TV, Asempa FM, killed his career and contributed to him moving from station to station, all because he felt all his subsequent stations fell below the standard of Multimedia.

“The joy of joining Multimedia alone couldn’t make me charge them when they approached me at Goodnews FM in Takoradi where I was the Acting General Manager and Programmes Manager, making me to forego all benefits to join them only for them to kick me out of the show after five (5) months with the excuse that I wasn’t performing well. I was really hurt but God knows best,” he said.

Asked if he would go back to work with Adom FM if they approached him with a juicy offer, this was his response:

“Apuuuutor. Is that what you foresee? Multimedia retired me prematurely from radio. I am comfortable with my work conditions at Bryt FM.”

Contrary to talks that he was poached by Bryt FM, Dr. Prekese said that is not true.

Rather, he explained that he was given an enticement fee that makes him feel comfortable working with the station.

He added that he wouldn’t want to do radio again if he quits Bryt FM. So what would make Dr. Prekese quit radio?

“I have received lots of prophecies from known and unknown prophets telling me I will end up in God’s vineyard some day. I don’t know how true it is so I will quit if that happens or when I’m frail or weak and can’t be active on radio, dismissed or when I die because when I quit Bryt FM, I won’t love to do any radio work again. I would love to set up a consultancy to those who want to venture into it, that I have even started already,” he explained.

Doctor Prekese took over from Abeiku Santana in 2011 when the latter left for Okay FM and he has been touted by listeners of Adom FM to be the best replacement ever for Santana on Ofie Kwanso.

He is the one who first introduced the Adom Live Worship onto Ofie Kwanso.

He says he spent only five (5) months on Ofie Kwanso as a programme but spent one year and four (4) months with Multimedia Group Limited and even revamped their drive time at Nhyira FM when he was temporarily transferred there when the drive time guy there left unannounced.

He started radio at University of Education – Winneba’s Radio Windy Bay where he had his national service.

He has also worked at Kyzz FM in Takoradi, Kessben FM in Kumasi, Oman FM and Sena Radio in Accra.

Currently, Kwame Dwumor Mensah hosts ‘Gyaso Gyaso’ on Bryt 99.1FM in Koforidua from 2 – 6pm on week days.

Bryt FM is a commercial radio station owned by Joy Herbal Industries, producers of Joy Daddy Bitters and Joy Twedie Bitters.

Other radio stations in their fold include Tyt FM in Koforidua, Daddy FM in Nsawam and JayDee FM in Ho.
