MOBA – GEY HEY Gospel Explosion raises bar for alumni collaboration

It was all joy at the Covenant Family Community Church when MOBA (Mfantsipim Old Boys Association) and WGHS-OGA (Wesley Girls' High School Old Girls Association) jointly organised a Gospel Concert, with the theme “Let us with a Gladsome Mind, Praise the Lord!”

The concert, dubbed MOBA-GEY HEY Gospel Explosion ’18, was organised to praise and thank God for all HE has done for the two associations and their schools. More importantly, it was to celebrate products of the two schools who are in the ministry of song and word.

The event brought together the likes of KODA, Nii-Okai, Alfred Addaquay, Luigi Maclean, Naana Asiedu, Alexandrah, Frank Guildford, Jasher Taylor, Yaw Antwi-Dadzie and the ever popular Joyful Way Incorporated. They thrilled the audience with hit songs like “Moko Be” by Nii Okai, “Nkwa Bodoo” by KODA and other very exciting gospel songs.

Delivering the sermon, Lady Pastor Dr. Joyce Wilson of the First Love Church (Lighthouse Chapel International) touched on the need for Christians to avail themselves to be used as instruments for the Lord’s service and charged all to ‘ do just a little bit more’ in service to God and country.

There were brief exhortations by Pastor Mrs. Stella Darkwa an Associate Senior Pastor of the Delightful Springs Ministry International, Mr. Nii Amankra Tetteh an Elder of the Prince Emmanuel SDA Church and Rev Albert Ocran, Executive Pastor of the Christ Temple - International Central Gospel Church.

In an address the Ebusuapanyin (President) of MOBA, Capt. Paul Forjoe, explained that “This event highlights our Christian values borne from the Weslyan tradition and showcases our Christian beliefs through worship, praise and thanksgiving and communing with God through songs and verses.” He also thanked companies and individuals who contributed towards the success of the programme.

On her part, Mrs. Harriet Wireko-Brobby, National Vice-President of WGHS-OGA described the theme as being very apt because it reminded us to praise the Lord and give thanks for all that we have. She added that “It is easy to speak negatively about our circumstances rather than make positive declarations based on God’s word. No matter how bad things may seem, once you start counting your blessings, you will find that you have more to be thankful for in life than you presumed.”

Mfantsipim School and Wesley Girls High School, both in Cape Coast, were established on firm Christian principles by the Methodist Church. Over the years, students who have attended the two Schools have been taught to recognize the Lordship of Christ and to respond in obedience to His call to be transforming influences in society.

The two schools, easily the two oldest Secondary Schools in Ghana, have a large gathering of 'Old Boys' and 'Old Girls' all over the world. They are very passionate about their schools and work tirelessly, in various ways, to ensure that they maintain the values and good standards. MOBA and WGHS-OGA, have worked hard, over the years to promote their associations and have and continue to contribute significantly towards the development of the two schools.
