Rapper and song writer M.anifest has been awarded at the 2017 International Midem Awards held in Cannes, France on Wednesday, June 7.

The second edition of the awards scheme which took place at the Majestic Hotel, saw four industry heavyweights, plus the winners of Midemlab and the Midem Artist Accelerator programme, honoured for their contribution to music.

MAA is an international career booster for emerging musical talent. The recently named cultural ambassador for the Ghana South Africa Business Chamber is the only African artiste at the event.

M.anifest will benefit from a 360-degree development programme which features a range of curated networking opportunities, as well as learning and coaching sessions with leaders of the international music industry.

The ambassadors for this year’s edition are Wyclef Jean, and Latin Latin superstar Daddy Yankee. The third edition of the global music industry event started on Tuesday, June 6 and will end on Friday, June 9, 2017.

The Midem Artist Accelerator is an exclusive programme for artists and their entourages. It is designed to support managers, agents, labels and publishers as they look to grow their artists’ profiles globally, as an opportunity to promote 11 International talents selected by an Artistic Committee.

Described in 2015 by the Guardian (UK) as “the foremost rapper on the continent,” M.anifest’s originality and impressive lyricism has earned him collaborations with musical giants such as Tony Allen, Damon Albarn, Flea (Red hot Chili Peppers), Erykah Badu, Femi Kuti, A.B Crentsil and more.
