Kaseem: Going places with Ga Rap

Kaseem Issaika was born in Accra at Adabraka to mum, Mrs. Wussah Kaseem Matu (a Ghanaian) and dad, Mr. Adamu Issaika (a Nigerian) 26 years ago. He was born on 25th April 1977.

He attended Castle Road Primary where he had his basic level up to J.S.S 2 and then completed at S.D.A J.S.S. He then proceeded to St. John?s Grammar Secondary School where he pursued business as a program. He has 3 siblings and currently residing at Dansoman. In his leisure hours, he?d like to play table tennis and listen to music.

He was inspired by Kwesi Kyei Darkwa (K.K.D) who was then at Ghana Broadcasting Corporation in 1992. K.K.D took him to radio stations for him to be heard on radio nationwide. Kaseem was introduced to the public by Lord Kenya when he featured on his sound track Adjoa in 1997 which was then handled by Slip Music Production. His second appearance was on Adane Best?s track Nyomo (God) in 1999. By this, people got carried away by his lyrics.

As at now, he is working on his new album to come out God willing November entitled ?Tsakatsaka remix? (Don?t misbehave) and some of the tracks include ?Tsakatsaka remix?, ?Wo So Woho Ma Me Nhwe? (Let Me See You Move Your Body), I will be there for you referring to he being there for his friend at all times, ?Ibeshi Dinn? literally meaning I?m just Laidback Looking at You and ?Akwele?. His upcoming release is being recorded at TLC Studios which is being run by Zapp Mallet. The album is executively produced by Kaseem and produced by Zapp Mallet and his record label is Dr. Blu Records.

So far he has 2 albums to his credit. In the latter part of 1999, he got hooked up with a former radio presenter of Joy F.M by name Gabby Adjetey. This young chap has also helped Kaseem in diverse ways. Gabby deserves an award. His first album entitled ?Tsakatsaka? meaning ?don?t misbehave? made a lot of noise in Ghana. This album contains six tracks with two instrumentals. Side A opens with the title track ?Tsakatsaka? which is about we being disciplined and not misbehaving. ?Akpei hu haa? a party track literally meaning one billion cedis and this is also about making money in the music industry thus thanking God. The Third track, ?Mmaa? literally meaning Mother is a song for our mothers and it has this traditional feeling that makes you dance to your feet followed by an instrumental of ?Tsakatsaka? and closing the first face of the album with ?Woso Woho Ma Me Nhwe?(party song) featuring Soul Black.

Side B opens with a track named Wiase featuring Ataa Me. It has this funky rhythm. ?Tsotsee?, a remix of King Bruce?s song advices us not to rush in life. The last track is an instrumental of ?Woso WoHo Ma Me Nhwe?.

He then came out with another album entitled ?Akrowa? (Life) which was also a bomb. The first track on this album is ?Akrowa? (Life), followed by ?Akosua Serwaa?, a love track featuring Short man of the Sass Squad. There is also another hit track ?Ja bo pe? (only you) a love track featuring Nii Lante as well as tracks like ?Is the world coming to an end??Kojo?, ?Nyame? (God) which is a praise song, ?Mede Aba? (I have brought it back) featuring Terry Bonchaka which talks about his coming back to conquer and not to destroy, and lastly ?Wadee Yi?.

He first performed on a show at National theatre in 1999 when Magic Systems came to Ghana. Other performances include his show at the National Theatre on the Joy F.M all stars show last year November. This was the first time he performed the ?Akrowa? and performed on KSM`s show at the National Theatre last year December. His last show was at the Aviation Social Center last three weeks.

Kaseem thinks being in the music industry is splendid. Beware all ya fellow Ga rappers?.
