FEATURE: Do showbiz people retire?

KSM, satirist KSM, satirist

This is a subject many showbiz people would not want to discuss no matter how successful they are. They find it an awful discussion because it means they are about to lose the fame, the money and anything associated with celebrity lifestyle.

News or speculations that the king of satire KSM is about to retire after putting out his last show this year is one that is being discussed by showbiz people in Ghana. It has become a topic worth discussing because few celebrities or better still performers do not discuss their retirement from active showbiz. Kwaku Sintim Misa aka KSM has contributed his quota to the showbiz industry in Ghana and comedy to be specific. One good thing the industry will remember him for, is his openness to new talents.

All the young folks in our showbiz industry have one way or the other dealt with him before and many talk about his impact on their lives and profession. To the revelers who have been attending his comedy shows since he started, we are very sure some memories of his performances can never be erased from your minds. Now that he is planning to bow out, it is the hope of Flex newspaper and its writers that, we give him a celebration of a life time achievement in all spheres and disciplines.

The celebration should in no way be limited to those in comedy but it should inculcate even government officials who have enjoyed his performances over the years. We need to be happy as an industry because KSM is not about retiring as a pauper unlike the rest who begged before their death.

In an industry that players have admitted does not pay much, he is retiring a well to do man with so many achievements under his belt. KSM no doubt is a hero and he should bow out as a hero with the support of the whole industry.

At the moment, we can only wait till the final announcement comes and the activities that will herald the final show and retirement finally before we can jubilate or cry.
