Aliu shakes Yendi

Yendi (N/R), Dec. 2, GNA - Vice President Aliu Mahama's home coming to Yendi was a blessing for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as thousands of supporters rekindled the Party's winning chances there. Alhaji Mahama, who hails from Yendi, was met by enthusiastic supporters at the outskirts of the town riding on motorcycles, bicycles and in vehicles amidst drumming, singing and dancing. The streets were filled up with NPP supporters, bringing business in the town to a halt.

Praise singers were all over the streets singing songs for the teeming supporters to dance, while they followed the Vice President's convoy through the principal streets to the Kuga-Na Palace.

At the Kuga-Na Palace, it took the Police sometime to be able to control the milling crowd that gathered at the open space in front of the palace.

Some of the supporters, who could not find space to stand, climbed trees and rooftops to have the opportunity of seeing the Vice President. The crowd followed the Vice President and his convoy to the Zohi-Na Palace, the Zongo-Na Palace and to the Bolin-Lana's Palace.

It was all cheering and jubilation at the Bolin-Lana's Palace. It was sweet home coming for the Vice President, who had not visited Yendi after the Ya-Na Yakubu Andani II, Paramount Chief of Dagbon and 30 others were killed on March 27, 2002.
