Akufo-Addo snubs Afoko, Agyepong at Peace FM

As the deep-seated hatred between Akufo-Addo and his National Chairman and General Secretary soars up to unprecedented heights, Peace FM, last week played host to the display of hostilities between the Akyem/Asante factions within the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Without any sense of shame, the NPP Akyem/Asante factions snubbed each other when they appeared at the premises of the Abeka Junction-based Ship House offices of Peace FM and its affiliates to mourn the passing of Mr. Kwesi Brenya, who was the General Manager of that radio station.

To the disbelief of all present, the NPP 2016 flagbearer, Mr. Williams Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo, openly refused to exchange pleasantries with Mr. Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong; his Chairman and General Secretary, respectively.

Indeed, Akufo-Addo arrived separately with his team while Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong also led a separate team to mourn with the radio station and its affiliates.

The hatred between the two factions was showcased when both sides consciously refused to speak to each other - to the dismay and shock of onlookers.

“I have been hearing about the fight between them on the airwaves and thought it was mere propaganda; but I saw it with my own naked eyes and, I was shocked to see the level of hatred they have for themselves,” a Peace FM source told The Informer.

“In fact, I was expecting that, as the Leader and Flagbearer of the party, Nana Addo, would exhibit a high sense of maturity; but he shocked me with his child-like attitude. Of course, I was also disappointed in the way Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong also openly disregarded the Flagbearer of their party,” the source added.

As things stand; there is no hiding place for the enmity that exist between the Akufo-Addo-led Akyem-faction and the John Kufuor-led Asante group within the NPP, and it will take the second coming of Christ to bring them to the peace table.
