NDC polls: Anyidoho elected First Dep. General Secretary

A former Presidential Spokesperson, Koku Anyidoho has been elected first deputy general secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress.

Anyidoho, according to provisional results garnered 2,338 votes out of the total number of valid votes cast.

The Second Deputy General Secretary of the party George Lawson retained his seat with 1,390 votes, beating former Member of Parliament for Adentan in the Greater Accra region Kojo Adu Asare, who managed 1,308 of the votes.

The other three candidates in the race performed poorly.

The results if confirmed will mean that Anyidoho and Lawson will become first deputy and second deputy general secretaries of the party respectively.

Counting is still underway for the key positions such as the National Chairman and National Organiser.

The 8th Congress of the NDC to elect new national executives is still ongoing at the Baba Yara stadium in Kumasi in the Ashanti region.
