‘I’ll revamp constituency office’

An aspiring national treasurer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has promised to revamp the financial base of the party at the constituency level for the various constituency chairmen to better perform.

According to him, his tenure will build capacity of party executives and put the party in a financial position that will ensure Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) flag-bearer for the 2016 election, is beaten for the third time.

He said under his administration party offices would be empowered to engage in money generating activities for the upkeep of the welfare of majority of the party supporters.

Alhaji Abdallah Ahmed Abdallah otherwise known as Al-Haj PMC, who is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PMC Constructions Limited, said these in an interview with Today in Accra.

According to him, the NDC stands a better chance of winning the 2016 elections, if the financial administration of the party is given a clean sheet and manned by a competent person.

He said the NDC can beat the NPP again, only if the party's finances are well structured and better mobilised in the 2016 elections which analysts had already indicated would be a waterloo for the President John Dramani Mahama-led administration.

He said even though Ghanaians were complaining about the developments in the economy, the party can still win the 2016 presidential elections, if it has strong financial muscle and logistics.

He noted that the party needs business-minded people in its attempt to retain power.

Al-Haj PMC who had over the years been one of the key party financiers and supportive of the Brong-Ahafo regional branch of the party is expected to battle it out for the national treasurer position with the incumbent, Mr. Kamal Norshie, Mr. Awudu Ariff while Nii Armah Tackie seeks the deputy National Treasurer slot.
