Kick out corrupt NDC in 2016 - Akufo-Addo urges Ghanaians

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is calling on Ghanaians to speak with one clear voice, come December 2016, and vote out the incompetent Mahama-led National Democratic Congress government, which has needlessly placed untold hardships on Ghanaians.

He said this, when addressing the 1,800 plus delegates from the Jomoro, Evalue Gwira and Ellembelle constituencies in the Western Region on Tuesday, October 14, as part of his campaign tour of the Western Region, adding that he was happy to be in “Nzema land”, the land which produced Ghana’s first President, Kwame Nkrumah, who, Nana Addo said, will forever be remembered by all Ghanaians.

Nana Akufo-Addo explained to the delegates that the beauty of multiparty democracy is that when a government is elected and fails to improve the lot of its citizens but rather succeeds in worsening their plight, those same citizens can peacefully, through the ballot box, remove that government and replace it with a more competent government.

“That is why I am appealing to Ghanaians. In 2016, let us speak with one unequivocal voice that the unbearable hardships, poverty, rising levels of unemployment, rising cost of business, which is damaging businessmen, traders and farmers In view of this, Ghanaians should retrace their steps and vote in an NPP government under the competent leadership of Nana Akufo-Addo,” he said.

He assured Ghanaians that the aim of an NPP government will be to turn around the fortunes of the nation and better the lot of the people.

“I want to assure the youth of this country that it is not true that God put us on this land to be poor. It simply is not true. It is bad governance and corruption that has brought us this far,” Nana Akufo-Addo said, at which point the perennial problem of ‘dumsor dumsor’, which has characterised the Mahama administration so far, hit the meeting grounds.

After power was restored, through the use of a petrol-powered generator, Nana Akufo-Addo continued by telling the gathering that “we (the NPP) can do much better than this”, an apparent reference to the fact that an Akufo-Addo government will end the ‘dumsor dumsor’ crisis.

He reassured delegates and Ghanaians that, contrary to falsehoods being peddled by some persons, both within and outside the NPP, he was fit, strong and ready for the task ahead should the NPP, on October 18, and Ghanaians, in December 2016, repose confidence in him and vote for him as President.

“In neighbouring Cote d’Ivoire, President Alassane Ouattara, who is 2 years older than me, is making significant strides in ensuring that the lives of Ivorians are made better. They are moving forward whilst Ghana retrogresses. I am appealing to Ghanaians to give me the opportunity to better what is currently going on in Cote d’Ivoire,” Nana Akufo-Addo said.

Continuing, he re-emphasised the fact that “I did not come to politics to enrich myself or enrich my family. I came into politics to help my country with the strength and intelligence that God has given me and the vision of what this country can be. We can fulfil the potential of Ghana and give our country a strong economy, which will provide opportunities for jobs to be created and good money to flow into pockets of everyone.”

For this to become a reality, Nana Akufo-Addo appealed to the delegates to strongly rally behind him and give him a massive endorsement in Saturday’s presidential primary.
