October 18 will be a repeat of August 31 – Bawumia

Two-time Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr Mahamudu Bawumia says there will be a repeat performance of NPP’s Special Electoral College during next month's presidential primary.

He said the 80.81 per cent endorsement of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Sunday, August 31; will be reflected on Saturday, October 18, when the party goes into its final conference ahead of the 2016 elections.

“If out of 740 voters, who are largely founding fathers, constituency chairmen and regional executives, MPs, National Executive Committee and National Council members, some 81% voted for Nana Akufo-Addo, is it not a good indication of the will of the grassroots of the party?” Dr Bawumia asked.

He was speaking on Monday during a Thank You tour by Nana Addo in the Western Region.

Nana Addo polled 45 out of 61 votes to win in the Region.

Dr Bawumia appealed to the delegates to show once again that there is massive support for Nana Addo in the NPP, explaining that a massive victory for Nana Akufo-Addo will give the NPP a major lift ahead of election 2016.

Nana Addo, Francis Addai-Nimoh and Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen will contest the primary next month.
