Suspend Bugri Naabu - Alan camp

The camp of New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant Alan Kyerematen is spearheading the immediate suspension of the northern regional chairman of the party Daniel Bugri Naabu.

The beleaguered NPP executive swore to investigate delegates who voted for the former trades minister in last Sunday’s mini congress. He said prior to the super delegates’ congress which whittled down the number of aspirants from seven to five, all the delegates in the North had vowed to vote for Nana Akufo-Addo.

He later made a quick detour, saying his comments were made “in jest” and must not be taken seriously.

However, the Alan camp feels the stance taken by Naabu and his comments warrant his “suspension” since “the party is not for jokers.”

“I think we should view Bugri Naabu’s statement in context with what actually happened on the ground. If what happened on the ground was a joke then he can tell us it was a joke,” the spokesperson of the Alan campaign team Nana Ohene Ntow told Accra-based Citi FM.

He added: “People were threatened. He means what he said. He had premeditated about it. What he has done completely undermines any effort to unite the party. He has to be investigated and suspended.

“He has lost all his moral right to lead the party. He has to be removed completely. The party is not for jokers. He said things that have undermined party unity. He must be called to order and proper sanctions must be applied.”
