Akufo-Addo: Ghana’s worsening economy regrettable

The 2012 NPP presidential candidate, Akufo-Addo has said he personally regrets the harsh economic conditions Ghanaians are being subjected to a year after the election petition hearing.

The electoral commission’s declaration of John Mahama as winner of the 2012 presidential elections was upheld by a Supreme Court decision on August 29, 2013.

In a bid to convince party supporters in Kumasi ahead of the super delegates’ congress slated for Sunday, August 31, Nana Addo said he is ready to right the wrongs and redeem Ghana from its current state.

“If I have any regret, it is that the conditions in our country are worse than they were a year ago. Our economy is in crisis, businesses are collapsing, the cost of living is unbearably high for the ordinary person, our youth remain without employment, our children are failing in their examinations, and we are experiencing strikes all over,” Akufo-Addo said Friday.

The two-time presidential candidate is aspiring to lead the party again in 2016 and is convinced he will provide the critical leadership the country needs.

He said: “Let us all together set our sights on the sun-lit horizons and prospects that await the Black Star of Africa when Ghana is again under good leadership.”
