Drop Bawumia; get our support - Akufo-Addo negotiates NPP ticket

Kufuor/Alan Bloc Negotiate With Akufo-Addo

Slowly but surely, former President John Agyekum Kufuor and his protégé, John Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, and the entire Asante faction in the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) are coming to the realization that whether they like it or not, Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo will beat their candidate Kyerematen.

Having come to that conclusion, the ex-President John Kufuor/Alan faction is now negotiating with Nana Akufo-Addo to drop Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as his running-mate for 2016, in order to get the group’s support in all provisos, this paper’s intelligence sources have hinted.

According to The Informer credible sources, the Kufuor/Alan group intends to give names of list of persons for Nana Addo to pick his 2016 running-mate from.

“Those of us supporting Alan, upon series of meetings to access the possibility of becoming the flagbearer of our great party, have come to the conclusion that Nana Addo is unbeatable as far as an election to elect the party’s flagbearer is concerned.

To be honest, Alan is no match for Nana Addo; that is why we (Kufuor/Alan faction) have decided to negotiate our way for Nana Addo to consider picking Alan ‘Cash’ as his running-mate, if he wants our support,” an insider from the Kufuor camp told The Informer.

“The group has resolved to send a delegation to Nana Addo anytime soon to negotiate with him as regards the group’s request.

All former President John Kufuor and those of us supporting Alan Kyerematen are requesting is for Nana Addo to pick Kyerematen as his running-mate for the 2016 elections, and we shall support him with all our might and resources,” the source added.

Asked why Bawumia should be dropped, he said, “Bawumia’s image is soaring, and that could be dangerous to Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen’s chances as to who succeeds Nana Addo after 2016."

“Bawumia will be a threat to Alan as to who leads the NPP; and the earlier he is sidelined, the better it shall be for Alan,” the insider concludes.

The above goes to confirm Brigadier-General Joseph Odei’s (Rtd) exposè of how the Kufuor/Alan camp is plotting very hard to darken the chances of Dr. Bawumia succeeding Nana Addo.

In a well written article titled “Who Owns The NPP?” published in the Daily Guide newspaper, the retired General stated “The fear of the “Northern Bright Star” Bawumia’s popularity is the fact that should Nana become president, Bawumia could easily step into his shoes.

Dr Bawumia single-handedly earned his popularity through his exemplary performance at the Supreme Court and his brilliant lectures on the state of the national economy.

In fact, these are efforts to divert the attention from the real objective. Simply put, it is an attempt to frustrate or prevent Nana Addo from being nominated as the party’s flagbearer. There is a small section of people who think that Nana Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia have become too popular in the Party and, therefore, their wings must be clipped."

Unhappy with developments, Brigadier General (Rtd) Odei advised the new administration to effectively manage the party if they command the respect of majority of party members and review their strategies to salvage what is left of their popularity and image which helped them win the last election.
