NPP Caucus in Western Region root for Akufo-Addo

Members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Northern Caucus in the Western Region have made a passionate appeal to all those who might want to contest the 2016 flagbearership position in the NPP to rescind their decisions and allow Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo to go unopposed.

According to them, Nana Akufo Addo remains the most marketed person among the flagbearer aspirants of the party, and that the opportunity should not be squandered to cash-in on the advantage he brings to the 2016 presidential contest.

They have, therefore, vowed to ensure that Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo emerges the victor at the party's primaries if he is contested.

At a press briefing in Takoradi, Issah Fuseini, Acting Secretary of the NPP Northern Caucus in the Western Region blamed excessive borrowing by the government for the current economic crisis the country finds itself, and that Nana Addo is the only person in the party today who has what it takes to unseat the current NDC government and redeem the nation from its economic difficulties.

He assured the party, however, that they are not imposing Nana Addo on the NPP, neither are they saying that people should be prevented from contesting him for the flagbearership for the 2016 elections. His group, according to him only wants the best electoral outcomes for the party and it is their conviction that Nana can deliver the victory the party seeks.

Issah Fuseini praised Nana Akufo Addo for selecting Dr. Mahamud Bawumia from the Northern Region on two occasions to partner him in the 2008 and 2012 general elections, and urged him to retain Bawumia as running mate for a third time when given the nod to lead the party come 2016.

He expressed his group's preparedness to campaign vigorously for Nana Addo to become the next president of Ghana and to pave way for him to implement his human-centred policies for the people of this country.

“Over the years” he continued, “Nana Addo has proven to Ghanaians that he is a patriotic citizen, peace loving and a visionary leader who has the interest of the nation at heart."

He debunked the notion that the party was an Akan party stressing that the NPP was first formed in the Northern Region as Northern Peoples' Party.

He called on NPP's communications team to try to map out pragmatic measures to neutralize the baseless propaganda by the NDC against the NPP.
