Conduct your contest peacefully – NDC tells NPP

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has sent its well-wishing message to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the Party’s National Delegates’ Conference in Tamale.

The Conference, which is scheduled to be held on Saturday, April 12, will see over 5,000 members of the largest opposition party elect 10 officers to occupy national executive positions.

The ruling party advised NPP to conduct the contest in an atmosphere devoid of violence to guarantee a peaceful and successful meeting.

“We wish to indicate that a successful conference will undoubtedly enhance the country’s democratic credentials and further place Ghana’s multiparty journey on a higher pedestal among the comity of multi party states across the globe,” a statement issued by Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the General Secretary of the NDC, said.

The statement urged supporters of the NDC – especially those in the Northern Region capital of Tamale – to cooperate with their opposite numbers before, during and after the Conference.

“We urge our members not to conduct themselves in any negative manner that will put the name of the NDC into disrepute,” the statement on Thursday said. “We as a party will not stand by any fanatic who acts in breach of the peace prevailing in the region.”
