I did not join NPP because of Akufo-Addo - Apraku

There is no denying the fact that Nana Akufo-Addo’s dark days as leader of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is drawing to a close, as former President John Kufuor and his Asante cabal throw all caution to the wind in a bid to yank the party away from the Akyem mafia.

One person who is leading a section of the Asante re-emergence is Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, who seems to be in a no-nonsense mood in his bid to bury the presidential ambition of Akufo-Addo.

Konadu Apraku, who has come under heavy ‘artillery’ attack for boldly stating that Akufo-Addo is not capable of winning any presidential election in Ghana, does not seem perturbed as regards the insults that are heaping at his doorstep.

Speaking on Adom FM yesterday morning, Mr. Konadu Apraku resiliently reiterated his earlier point that Akufo-Addo has been a repulsive character, who does not have what it takes to attract neutral or floating-voters to the NPP.

Speaking with a lot of passion, Apraku said he did not join the NPP because of Akufo-Addo; and so will not allow the failed presidential candidate to hold the party to ransom.

“I did not join the NPP because of Akufo-Addo and will not allow the insults to deter me…” Apraku boldly stated to the show host, Kofi Adoma.

According to the former MP for Offinso North constituency in the Ashanti Region, Nana Akufo-Addo cannot continue to enjoy the support of the majority of party members when it is very obvious that the Akyem man cannot lead the party to victory.

He continued that, Akufo-Addo is not a unifier, but rather a divisive character whose Akyem tribal agenda has long rendered the NPP unattractive to Ghanaian floating-voters.

It would be recalled that Mr. Konadu Apraku, earlier posited that Akufo-Addo is not an ideal role model for the youth, because of the many negative traits hanging around his former party flagbearers neck.
