JJ is a changed man-Sam George

-God Has Touched his Heart

A member of the government’s communication team, Samuel George Nartey says the founder of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Jerry John Rawlings, heard God's call and joined the party's campaign to retain power in December.

Jerry John Rawlings, who has been a fierce critic of the ruling party for the past three years under late President Mills, earlier this week, announced he would join the campaign of President John Mahama who is seeking re-election in the December 7 polls.

He also urged disgruntled party cadres to reconcile their differences and forge ahead for an NDC victory in next month's elections.

Sam George Nartey, who was speaking on Joy FM and Multi TV’s programme Newsfile said Rawlings' decision was based on the fact that he had seen the “light”.

“Jerry John Rawlings, for want of a better expression has heard the call of God, and has heeded and repented, and has seen the change in the NDC…today he has full comprehension of the hope in the NDC, full comprehension in the shining light in the NDC which John Dramani Mahama [has brought about]…he’s seen the change, he’s seen the hope...” Sam George said.

The NDC activist added that the game of politics is about numbers and going into the December elections, the NDC would need everyone to vote for its candidate if it is to retain power.

But Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako said he was not particularly surprised at the former President’s decision, adding that the only consistent thing about Mr. Rawlings is his inconsistencies.

Nana Konadu bites Mahama

Once a part of the inner-sanctum of the National Democratic Congress - NDC, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, with a sharp teeth is biting hard into the ruling party’s campaign from the sidelines. Though fighting the Electoral Commission in Court over her disqualification from the presidential race on the ticket of the National Democratic Party – NDP, a breakaway sect of the NDC, Nana Konadu is bent on wrecking John Mahama’s bid to become President.

With allegations of corruption being thrown at the sitting President’s government by the main opposition, the NPP, Nana Konadu, wife of former Ghana ruler Jerry John Rawlings, who is the founder of the NDC has joined the fray to attack the Mahama government.

She says the ruling National Democratic Congress administration, led by John Mahama, who was a Minister of Communication when her husband - Jerry John Rawlings - was in power, does not deserve a second term in office and must be kicked out of power come December 7 when Ghanaians go to the polls.

Nana Konadu alleges corruption had become the norm; almost four years after the NDC took over power from then governing New Patriotic Party.

But no matter how the NDC refuses to be distracted, their campaign will face fresh pressure to speak out on corruption with their once beloved Nana Konadu joining the ‘ugly noise’ band.

It might be defined as sour grapes by the ruling party but her aggression could gather steam and affect the chances of Mahama.
