Emulate peace-loving attribute of President Mills- PPP urges Ghanaians

The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has called on Ghanaians to imbue the peace-loving legacy of the Late President John Evans Atta Mills as a befitting tribute to him to foster national cohesion and peace.

“We believe the legacy of President Mills as “Asomdweohene” is something Ghanaians should imbue in their daily lives to foster peace in this country,” said Nii Allotey Brew-Hammond, Chairman of the PPP when he led party officials to sign the book of condolence opened by the State for the late President at the State House in Accra.

Nii Brew-Hammond said the late President’s legacy of “a gentle approach to diplomacy” should be emulated by Ghanaians and by his successor, President John Mahama, to avoid violence in the 2012 elections.

“President Mills was a peace-loving person and approached things from the angle of peace conflict...no situation require violence or intemperate language, which is what Prof. Mills believed in”.

The PPP Chairman extended the condolences of the party to the family of the Late President and urged Ghanaians to give President Mahama the necessary support to enable him give-off able leadership to the country.

“Our message to Ghanaians is to remain calm and to have trust in the leadership and pray that they (leaders) would be matured to keep Ghanaians together as one”.

The PPP, he said, had suspended its campaign activities in respect for the late President, adding “at the right time we would continue on that path”.**
