For Positive Change In Ghana, Flush Out The Ndc

“ From Government” Says Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia.

The 2012 presidential running mate of the New Patriotic Party [NPP] Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, has called on all eligible Ghanaian voters to vote out the National Democratic Congress NDC from power if they want positive change in their lives.
According to him, people vote for government to come and solve problems inhibiting national development as well as the sufferings of the people and not to increase or worsen it.
Therefore, if Ghanaians want to see positive change in their lives as they have been crying of hardship under the present NDC government, then they have to vote out the NDC government for NPP government to come and remove their sufferings.
Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, sent out this campaign message during a town hall meeting which was held at Ghanaian Presbyterian Church in Toronto on July 21, 2012.The theme for the meeting was,”Taking action to restore and transform Ghana”.
According to him, the NDC under president Atta Mills promised Ghanaians a heaven of Better Ghana Agenda which confused Ghanaians that made them take out power from the NPP and gave it to the NDC.
However, an economy under the NDC which produces oil, mine gold, produces cocoa and other natural resources in the past three and half years in office has borrowed money up to the tune of 25 billion dollars more than CPP government and ex-president Kufuor’s government put together of nine billion dollars as he asked “where has all these money gone can we see it”.
The NPP running mate said president Mills and his entourage, has been going around the country campaigning to be re-elected for another four years but so far has not been able to point to projects either initiated or completed under his promised better Ghana agenda.
“For the past three and half years we have seen corruption that has never been seen before. Wayomization of the economy which is paying people for project that have not been done as Wayome money could have built several unit class room blocks.
“Over invoicing one unit classroom block doubled in three and half years, astronomical increase in cost of living making Ghanaians in the country asking for more remittances from their relatives in diaspora,” he observed.
Dr Bawumia noted with sadness the rate at which corruption in government has impacted negatively as people are being paid for no jobs done that makes them to buy big stocks and foreign exchanges which have all contributed to the depreciation of the cedi against foreign currencies such as the American dollar.
The economist, made it clear that it is time to set the mindset of the way the country does things and Nana Akuffo Addo’s government which will have him as the vice president will actually restore hope in government where integrity will be high.
He said,” under Nana Akuffu Addo there would be no Wayomization but rather systematic improvement of public services from manual to data base systems that will link all sectors which needs to be put in place to take out corruption ”.
Earlier in a welcome address, the chairman of the Toronto NPP Chapter Mr. Augustine Opoku-Agyeman, stated that the purpose of the meeting was not to highlight the differences between NPP and NDC or any political party.
Rather as Ghanaian Canadians, their primary concern was to see Ghana prosper so that all Ghanaians regardless of their status in society can enjoy their fundamental human freedoms and better quality of life.
To achieve this,” we need to ensure that leadership is given to men and women who will put the interest of the country ahead of their personal gains” therefore the gathering to uncover action plans that can be implemented to deal with the kinds of challenges the country face he stated.
Accordingly, the Toronto chapter believes that the time has come for Ghanaians in the diaspora, young and old, Christians and non Christians to unite their efforts to invest in the future prosperity of the country all love so much.
“We must take actions to restore and transform Ghana. However no individual or group can do it alone. Such transformational change would require the collective efforts of all Ghanaian-Canadians and all Ghanaians else where” Opoku Agyeman suggested.
