Headmistress declares intention to contest Gomoa East seat

Ms Gloria Effe Donkoh, Headmistress of Mankessim Methodist Basic Schools in the Mfantseman Municipality, has declared her intention to contest Gomoa East Parliamentary seat as an independent candidate.

Ms Donkoh said she took the decision because Gomoa East was lagging behind in development especially in the areas of health, education sanitation, road and adequate infrastructures to improve the wellbeing of the constituents.

Ms Donkoh who holds Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and is a Professional Teacher, said she when voted as MP, she would promote education in the area.

She said she was unhappy with the poor results of Basic Education Certificate Examination recorded by schools in recent years in the district.

She called for maximum cooperation between the parents, teachers, chiefs and other stakeholders in education to help reverse the negative trend.

Ms Donkoh said Gomoa East had elected four males Parliamentarians since 1992 to date, but yet still the district has not seen anything good and stressed that effective strategies would be adopted to convince the parents to send their children to school.

She said though government has introduced capitation grant and school feeding programme, parents should play their parts effectively by providing the children with their basic needs.

She stated that her intention to contest the seat was to lead the people in Gomoa East to develop faster than the current situation.
