CPP youth organizer quits

CPP YOUTH ORGANIZER QUIT

By Alhassan M. Murtala-Tamale

The northern regional youth organizer of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Alhaji Mohammed Murtala Kwame has resigned from the party and has crossed carpet to the Progressive People’s Party (PPP).

Given reasons for his resignation, Alhaji Murtala claimed the CPP has no political future under the leadership of Samia Nkrumah as its national chairperson thus his decision to quit and join the PPP.

He said: “I feel the change that Ghanaians need and that change I belive will come from the PPP under the leardship of Dr Paa Kwesi Ndoum hence my decision to join that party.”

It will be recalled that, Alhaji Murtala and the CPP national youth organizer, Mohammed Murtala, as well as Mary Ankomah, the national women’s organizer were interdicted by the national executive body of the CPP for declaring their support to Dr. Nduom.

“I have resigned and joined the PPP and my reason is that if you could recall there was news that some of us have been interdicted and up to date nobody has called to tell me what is happening,” he told THE TIDE Newspaper.

In a sharp rebuttal, the CPP national communication’s director, Nii Armah Akomfrah, said the CPP was not perturbed about the endless attacks from the defectors. He challenged them to concentrate on the PPP and leave the CPP alone.

“Murtala Mohammed and the other youth organiser in the Ashanti region have been interdicted and they have left the party and joined the PPP; they should concentrate on the new party and stop these endless attacks on our leader,” he said.

“It begins to show a different agenda they have; they have no agenda for this country either than to keep attacking the CPP and Ghanaians are matured enough to understand that we have a constitution which allows freedom of association,” Akomfrah added.
