NPP not ready for self-destruction - Rauf

Kumasi, Aug.31, GNA- Alhaji Audu Rauf, a Resource Person of the New Patriotic party (NPP) in Kumasi has said that the party was not ready for self-destruction.

He has therefore called on all presidential aspirants, members and supporters of the party to desist from negative campaigns, which could bring the image of the party into disrepute.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi on Friday, Alhaji Rauf, who is also a Pharmacist, said the "game of destruction and character assassination and turning round to apologize should not be encouraged. He indicated that this was very necessary because the harm done due to this act could hardly be reversed.

Citing the incident between some supporters of the Vice-President Alhaji Aliu Mahama and Mr Allan Kyeremateng, Alhaji Rauf stressed that it would serve the party no good if members and supporters within it engage in "gutter" politics.

He indicated that the party was built on the principles of democracy and any adherent to this tenet should have in mind that "we cannot reverse the situation at this material moment the party is preparing for 2008 general elections".
