Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo-Addo, has congratulated ace broadcaster Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah, for his win in the Ofoase Ayirebi constituency during the party's primaries.

Oppong-Nkrumah polled 219 out of 418 votes to represent the main opposition in that constituency in the 2016 elections.

The former host of the Super Morning Show on Joy 99.7FM beat his main rival, John Obiri Yeboah, who polled 145 votes in the ongoing primaries of the main opposition party.

The other contestant Bright Asamoah Acquah had 54 votes.

Oppong-Nkrumah told Starr News: “It was tough in its own right but we did what we had to do and we are glad that God crowned our effort with success. We succeeded with a combination of strategy and message and our message was focused on five-point plan for the constituency.”

He added he will join forces with his comrades to ensure victory for Nana Addo.

"The massive jubilation on the streets looks like we have a major election. We hope to leverage on this win to deliver… I hope to double the party’s margin in this constituency. It’s going to be a difficult job, but we’ll pool our resources together to deliver Nana Akufo-Addo to the Flagstaff House," Oppong-Nkrumah said after hearing the results.
