Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Sam Dzata George, has lashed out at President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for failing to 'tell the truth' in his maiden State of the Nation Address on Tuesday.

Reacting to the President's presentation shortly after the State of the Nation address, the Ningo-Prampram legislator described as a hoax, the president's description of the existing state of the Ghanaian economy saying President Akufo-Addo deliberately painted a gloomy picture of the country's finances.

“The president has been very economical with the truth when it comes to the economy, why did the president not speak about inflation, inflation was key during the election but had droped to 13.3% when we handed power to them. Why didn’t he speak about the treasury bill rate which has gone up to 16%, why is he picking and choosing gloomy economic indictors?” he said.

According to Sam George, the President’s silence on the source of funding for the NPP's flagship programme - Free SHS, shows the president is 'deceiving Ghanaians'.

“Clearly the president and his cabinet don’t know what they are talking about when it comes to the free SHS. Up till now the president has not announced a cabinet secretary, a signed of ineptitude.”
